The temperatures climbed to the hottest it had been at that point, but that didn’t stop Cicero’s senior residents from enjoying a seasonal outing this year. The annual Senior Picnic was held at Cicero’s Community Park on June 15, shifting from the traditional locale of the Community Center for a more summery experience.
To help keep residents cool, frozen treats and cold beverages were on hand underneath a massive tent where folks feasted on traditional summer picnic food while enjoying several rounds of bingo and listening to their favorite songs. The bingo game was hosted by Town Supervisor Joe Virruso.
“We wanted to change things up this year and host the picnic outdoors, hoping the earlier date would keep temperatures more manageable for everyone,” said Town President Larry Dominick. “It was still hot, but I think everyone still had a great time.”
The picnic was organized by Susan Banks, Director of Senior Activities, and Ryan Chlada, Director of Senior Services.
