We are just a week out from one of Cicero’s largest events and many of us at the Cicero Voters Alliance are excited for its arrival.
With live music, great food and entertaining carnival rides, this four-day festival is sure to be a grand one! The festival itself will take place at the Cicero Fairgrounds (34th & Laramie) beginning on Thursday, Sept. 15 and running through Sunday, Sept. 18.
Additional events include the Mexican Independence Day Parade – which runs down Cermak – at noon on Sunday as well as El Grito, the traditional cry for independence that has become the traditional start of the Mexican War for Independence over Spain in 1810.
Cicero’s El Grito ceremony starts at 8pm on Sunday, Sept. 15, and will feature Town President Larry Dominick, Mexican Consul General Carlos Jiménez Macias and other town officials. The celebration closes with a fireworks finale on Sunday night, all at the Cicero Fairgrounds.
