We are nearing the annual Houby Festival! The 48th Annual Houby International Festival kicks off on Sept. 29, with events beginning along the L Strip behind Cermak. This four-day event features live music, carnival rides, food and more!
The largest attraction of the festival is the annual Houby Day Parade, running between Cicero and neighboring Berwyn along Cermak Road.
Houby is the Czech and Slovak word for mushrooms and symbolizes the treasured fall food for many Bohemian families. Houby represents the Bohemian men and women who called the Cicero home in the early 20th Century and helped build it to the thriving New Cicero it is today.
